Asphalt paving starts long before any hot mix shows up. We grade the site first so water runs off the pavement instead of standing on it. The national asphalt trade association calls standing water the leading cause of driveway failure. Then the stone base goes down and gets compacted in layers.
Once the base is ready, we lay hot mix asphalt with our own paver and roll it hot. Rolling it while it is hot locks the stone together and keeps water out. We cut clean edges and keep the tie-ins flush at garages, walks and the road. Residential and commercial jobs both run this way.
